What is Learning?

  • Because behaviors are learned, learning focuses on observable behavior and not mental activities
  • Learning takes place through conditioning that encourages/discourages behavior
  • Contracts, consequences, reinforcement, extinction and behavior modification are used to promote desired behavior
  • Desired change in behavior constitutes learning
